Super DragAndGo for FireFox 1.5+

Super DragAndGo is a terrific plugin for FireFox that allows you to click and drag down on a link (or an image or highlighted text) to open it in a new tab or window.  It hasn’t been certified for v1.5+, but a quick edit of the source code line that checks version compatibility (<em:maxVersion>1.5+</em:maxVersion>) makes it so. I had to reinstall FireFox the other day and found this gem missing from the official Extensions site, so I’m publishing the edited XPI here for all to use.

If anyone happens to know for a fact that there’s good reason why the code hasn’t been certified for 1.5+, let me know, but I’ve used it with this slight edit since the 1.5 release without any problems.

Thanks… I don’t know why this hasn’t been updated… I’ve used it for such a long time, and when I do a reinstall, or go on another computer I remember what a necessary extension it is.

I loved this extension. What am I supposed to do with the edited xpi once I’ve downloaded it?

  5. Phil says:

Nevermind I got it. For other people, you just open your firefox extensions window. Then drag and drop the file in that extensions window. Close the browser and then reopen. Voila!

Thank you so much for bringing this invaluable extension back to life.
Super Drag and Go finally works for Firefox 1.5!

This works great except it will not load tabs in the background. The option features do not make a difference. Can this be fixed? Thank you… grant

It could be reprogrammed, but there’s another plugin called Tab Mix Plus that I’m told might have everything you’re looking for. I’ve yet to test it, so if you find it works, please let us know.

For what it’s worth, I use SuperDragnGo as kind of a quick flick to open tabs in the foreground, and I hold down CTRL and click when I want a tab opened underneath.

Thanks Marshal, Tab Mix Plus is very good. In fact I eliminated 3 other extensions that did not do as much all together.

  9. grant says:

    This is how SuperDragnGo works,
    1) drag the link to the Right and it opens in the background

    2) drag the link Upward and it opens in the foreground

  10. Marshall says:

Oh, right! I forgot all about that. Sheesh… bring the extension back to life and forget how it works. I suppose I should resurrect the documentation, too!
