Edward Tufte on presenting information
If you make presentations of any sort — in print, on the web, on stage, etc. — check out the work of Edward Tufte. His forums contain first rate discussions and his one-day course, which includes his four well-crafted, self-published books, is a great way to assimilate the full scope of his ideas in a short period of time. Students are able to take the course for a discounted rate that’s worth more than the included books are worth by themselves.
Update, March 2007: Stanford Magazine has published a profile on Tufte. An apt quote:
“I don’t want to sound too majestic, but my books are forever knowledge,’’ Tufte says. “People will be reading them a long time from now.”
